Refund Policy
Audible’s refund policy is unique due to the credit system and book ownership model: No Subscription Refunds: Audible doesn’t refund unused subscription time. When you cancel, you keep access until the current billing period ends. Unused credits are forfeited upon cancellation. Book Returns (Great Listen Guarantee): Active members can return audiobooks within 365 days of purchase for a credit/refund. This benefit ends immediately upon cancellation – you cannot return books as a non-member. Credit Expiration: Credits must be used before cancelling. Audible doesn’t refund or compensate for unused credits. You can accumulate up to 24 credits before they stop rolling over. Purchased Books: All books bought with credits or cash remain in your library forever. The purchase is final and separate from your membership status. Apple Subscriptions: If subscribed through iTunes, Apple’s refund policies apply. They may offer refunds within 48 hours if you haven’t used any credits. Accidental Purchases: If you accidentally use a credit or make a cash purchase, Audible support can often reverse it if you contact them immediately and haven’t started listening.

Things to Know Before You Cancel
Use all your credits before cancelling. Unused Audible credits are forfeited when your membership ends. Before cancelling, use every remaining credit to purchase audiobooks. You keep those books permanently even after your membership lapses.
You keep purchased books forever. Any audiobooks you have bought with credits or purchased outright remain in your Audible library indefinitely after cancellation. Only the Plus Catalog (unlimited listening) and future credits are lost.
You cannot cancel from the Audible app. Audible’s cancellation option is available through the Audible website (desktop or mobile browser) at audible.com, but not through the Audible app itself.
Consider pausing instead of cancelling. Audible offers a pause option for up to three months once per year. During the pause, your credits are preserved and billing stops. This is worth considering if you plan to return to listening soon.
Audible frequently offers retention discounts. During the cancellation flow, Audible commonly offers several months at a significantly reduced rate or bonus credits to stay. If cost is the issue, these offers can be genuinely worthwhile.
The Great Listen Guarantee expires on cancellation. Active Audible members can return audiobooks within 365 days of purchase. This benefit ends immediately when your membership cancels. Return any books you are unhappy with before you cancel.
