Spotify is one of the world’s most popular music streaming services, offering tens of millions of songs, podcasts, and audiobooks. Premium plans start at $6.99/month for students and $12.99/month for individuals, with Duo and Family plans available. If you see a charge from Spotify on your bank or credit card statement, it typically appears as SPOTIFY USA or SPOTIFY AB STOCKHOLM. Spotify subscriptions can be billed directly through Spotify, through Apple, through Google Play, or through carrier billing. You must cancel through the same platform where you signed up. Below, you will find the exact steps to cancel Spotify on any billing platform.
How to Cancel Spotify Premium Through the Website
If you subscribed directly through Spotify and pay Spotify directly, this is the primary cancellation method. Your account will revert to Spotify Free with ads after the billing period ends.
How to Cancel Spotify on Apple (iPhone / iPad)
If Spotify charges appear from Apple on your statement, you subscribed through the App Store. Therefore, you must cancel through Apple Subscriptions instead of through Spotify.
How to Cancel Spotify on Google Play (Android)
If Spotify charges show up as Google Play purchases, you subscribed through Google and must cancel there. Spotify cannot cancel Google-billed subscriptions directly.
How to Cancel Spotify Through Carrier Billing
Some users subscribed to Spotify through their mobile carrier as part of a bundled plan. If your Spotify charge appears on your phone bill rather than a credit card, you must cancel through the carrier.
Difficulty
Cancelling Spotify is straightforward if you know which platform bills you. The website cancellation takes just a few clicks. The main thing to watch for is ensuring you cancel through the correct billing platform. If Apple or Google Play bills you, cancelling on the Spotify website will not stop the charges. After cancelling, your account reverts to Spotify Free rather than being deleted.
Estimated Time
On average, it takes 0003 minutes to cancel a Spotify Premium subscription.

Spotify Refund Policy
Spotify’s standard policy does not offer refunds for unused portions of a paid subscription period. When you cancel, your Premium access remains until the billing period ends, but no money is returned for the remaining days. However, exceptions exist for duplicate or accidental charges (contact Spotify support at support.spotify.com), Apple-billed subscriptions (request refund at reportaproblem.apple.com), Google Play-billed subscriptions (request refund within 48 hours through Google Play Help Center), and first-time charges after a free trial if requested promptly. Spotify reviews refund requests on a case-by-case basis.

Things to Know Before You Cancel
Your account reverts to free, not deleted. After cancelling Premium, you still have a Spotify account and can listen for free with ads. You do not lose your playlists, saved songs, or followed artists.
Downloaded music will become unavailable. Any songs you downloaded for offline listening will no longer be playable once your Premium subscription ends.
Family and Duo plan managers cancel for the whole plan. If you are the plan owner, cancelling affects all members under the plan. Individual members cannot cancel the plan themselves.
Spotify may offer a free month or discounted rate. During the cancellation flow, Spotify often presents retention offers. If you want to save money rather than cancel entirely, this could be worth considering.
Pause option. Spotify sometimes offers the ability to pause your subscription for one to three months instead of cancelling. This can be convenient if you plan to return.
Student plan requires periodic re-verification. If you cancel the Student plan and re-subscribe later, you will need to re-verify your student status.
